Mom's first weekend away from Chloe...Dad's first weekend flying solo with Chloe

This past weekend was my first taste of being with Chloe full-time while Karen was in Vancouver taking an acupuncture course. Karen left Thursday afternoon and i was on my own to be with Chloe for three nights and pretty much three days.

Thursday night was pretty normal. She asked for Karen before bed and the following morning. I woke up with her at 5:30am which was more than enough time to feed Chloe, shower and walk the dog. I had to scramble for daycare that morning since our usual caregiver called me to tell me she was sick. I managed to get Chloe into a daycare for the day and made it to work an hour late. I had to grab breakfast on the go to.

That night i picked her up from the daycare and then came home to feed her. We then went grocery shopping and made it home in time for her to get to bed. Leaving me with a bit of time for a late dinner. Friday night did not go so well for sleep. Chloe kept waking up and was tossing and turning. I had to wake up at midnight with her and feed her. She went back to sleep after that only to wake up at 5:30am again on Saturday morning. So i got up and cooked up some eggs, pan fries and toast. We chowed down, walked dog and i made it to an chiropractor appointment on time. Chloe slept through the whole thing which was great.

By afternoon Saturday, she was getting sleepy but fighting it. So we walked to Gyro park, about 45 minutes from our house. She promptly fell asleep and that is the picture you see below. I hung out at Gyro with Daisy and we played while Chloe slept. I decided to head out and on the way home ran into a friend and her baby. So we went to the school to play. Those are some of the photos below as well. My friends little guy got grumpy so we had to cancel the play date. He hadn't had his nap yet. I can relate:-)

I made it home and Chloe and i were so both exhausted, we passed out between 8:00-9:00pm. She actually slept in to 6:30am Sunday morning. So that made up for the previous night of no sleep.

Sunday afternoon we headed to the airport and picked Karen up. Chloe was so happy to see her and vice versa for Karen.

So to all the dad's out there who have not had their toddler for a full weekend/full time. You'll get an idea of what your wife goes through pretty much everyday. I really enjoyed it and would prefer hanging out with Chloe over work anyday. Unfortunately, i already got paid to hang out with her last summer for 3 months. Wish i could do it again. It was nice to know that Chloe did not mind spending time with me and got by talking to Karen on the phone. It was pretty cute when Karen called; Chloe would rub the phone on her face to try and snuggle with Karen.

Enjoy the pictures.
