First Trip to Emergency

Hi Everyone,
I learned a very important lesson: babies become mobile FAST. We recently (2 days ago) rigged up Chloe's crib so that one of the sides is off, and the crib is pressed up against our bed, like a big co-sleeper. Well, I guess this is the first time Chloe has had any desire to get anywhere, because she started rolling back into the bed. However, she would only roll 2 times in a row max, so I still considered her relatively immobile...until today. I placed her in the middle of the bed while I ran into the other room for about sixty seconds, which is something I've never even thought twice about before. All of a sudden, there was a huge THUMP....followed by a frantic scream........there she was on the floor with a goose egg and rug burn on her forhead. I was scared because she was really sleepy afterward, so I took her to emergency, where they found everything to be okay...phew! I think I might put the side of the crib back up......

DEAR KAREN, FROM ONE DAUGHTER DROPPER TO SNOTHER,ACCIDENTS LIKE THIS ONLY SERVE TO TEACH US LESSONS. JUST AS OUR HORSES DID OVER THE YEARS, I WOULD BET THAT A MAJORITY OF BABIES HAVE HAD FALLS SUCH AS YOURS AND CHLOE'S, BUT MANY MOMS WOULD NOT ADMIT TO IT.IF THE DOCTOT SAID THAT SHE'S OKAY, TRUST THAT KNOWLEDGE,NOTHING ANYONE CAN SAY WILL MAKE YOU FORGET THAT THUD AND SCREAM OR REMOVE THAT THROAT- CLOSING HEART-THUMPING PANIC YOU FELT EHEN YOU HEARD CHLOE SCREAM AND I BET IT WON'T HAPPEN AGIN. DON'T BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF MY DARLING FAVORITE DAUGHTER, MOM IT SEEMS YOU ARE DESTINED TO CARRY ON FAMILY TRADITIONSXOOXO

Hi Mom,
Thank you for your support, but I am afraid that I didn't quite carry on a family tradition, as Chloe willingly...although unknowingly, rolled off the bed herself - she didn't need any help from me in that department. Also, from what I have heard from several moms since then, it is a very common occurrance!
